Canadian actor Leslie Nielsen is known for his nearly countless screen appearances. Among his many roles, he is perhaps best remembered for his role in Airplane! and Naked Gun . Leslie William Nielsen was born on the 11th day of February 1926 in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada to a Danish father and a Welsh mother. Nielsen grew up in north-west Fortman where his father worked with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. He attended Victoria Composite High School in Edmonton, Alberta.
After high school, Leslie Nielsen joined the Royal Canadian Air Force at the age of 17. He later enrolled at the Lorne Greene Academy of Radio Arts in Toronto, where he received a scholarship to study theater and music at the Neighborhood Playhouse.
Nielsen made his debut in a 1950 episode of Studio One . He later made 46 television appearances that same year. He had previously played other acting roles that were considered minor and went unnoticed.
Leslie Nielsen continued acting into his 80’s. Film and TV roles he played in old age include Clarence Darrow in his one-man theater production. Leslie Nielsen is dead. He died on November 28, 2010 at the age of 84 from pneumonia at Holy Cross Hospital in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where he was admitted for treatment. Prior to his illness and death, Nielsen was diagnosed with osteoarthritis in his knee. He was also legally deaf and wore hearing aids for most of his life.
Nielsen was buried in Evergreen Cemetery in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He left his fourth wife and widow, Barbaree Earl Nielsen, and his two sons, Maura and Thea Nielsen, to mourn for him. Nielsen’s favorite joke “Let’ er rip” is inscribed on his tombstone.

American nightclub singer Monica Boyar performed for the first time in 1950. The marriage ended six years later. Nielsen remarried to Alisande Allman in 1958. The couple divorced in 1973. He remarried Brooks Oliver in 1981. This one hit the rocks barely two years later. After that, Nielsen took a long break from marriage. In his final years, he eventually married Barbaree Earl in 2001.
Leslie Nielsen’s widow, Barbaree Earl, is a 70-year-old American actress. She started dating Nielsen in 1995 before they finally married in 2010. Barbaree has starred in films she was known for Dracula: Dead and Loving It (1995), Wrongly Accused (1998) and Family Plan (1997) among others.

Leslie Nielsen’s brother, Erik Nielsen , born February 24, 1984, was a Canadian politician and longtime MP. As MP he was leader of the opposition in 1983 and served until 1986. He later became a cabinet minister and then Deputy Prime Minister of Canada from 1984 to 1986.
Erik Nielsen died of a massive heart attack on September 4, 2008 in Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada. Like his brother Leslie, he died at the age of 84.

It was Nielsen’s role as Dr. Rumack in the 1980 film, Plane! that established him as a comedian. According to him, he always wanted to do comedy. Also notable are the comedic films he made in The Naked Gun (1988), Spy Strong (1996) and Wrongly Accused (1998).
Beginning his acting career at a time when Hollywood wasn’t that lucrative, Leslie Nielsen had to endure those hard times to reach the level he had before he died. Nielsen announced that he was making $75 or $100 a roll at the time.
