A FARM has apologised to angry parents after their firework display was deemed too loud and left children "terrified".
Marsh Farm in Chelmsford, Essex, threw a "Whizz Pop No Loud Bangs" firework display.
But the event, which started at 5pm and lasted until 7.30pm on Friday night was met with complaints from parents who claim their kids were scared by the noise.
The farm's website advertised the show as a "toddler-friendly firework display the whole family will love".
But they had to issue an apology after receiving over 100 comments on their Facebook page from upset parents.
Mum Kirsty Newton commented: "Really good show, but unfortunately my two year old was completely terrified and we had to leave early."
She added: "These were much louder than advertised!!!! If you're going get ear defenders for your children because there were kids in tears at time."
Another mum, Christina Jupp, said: "Good display for adults and well organised but there were definitely lots of 'big bangs' our son was so upset like many others and and we had to leave early."
Natasha Vingerhoets, also wrote: "We had to leave early, please don't go if your children are scared of fireworks, my 7 year old was petrified & even in the cafe the bangs were very very loud!!"
Others defended the farm saying a silent night would have been impossible.
Hayley Gallagher wrote: "I have just been to your firework display and it was amazing, I'm sure people don't have much to do if you feel the need to moan about a few bangs!!!"
Lynne Temple said: "For goodness sake the display is only for 2 nights a year and does not last very long. Why don't people get ear plugs if they do not like it."
The event had a tea-cup ride for families as well as magic and theatre shows and an outdoor play frame for children to use.

Marsh Farm later issued an apology which said: "We are very sorry to hear that some of you were disappointed with the volume of the fireworks.
"We hired a professional firework display company and specifically asked for the quietest fireworks that exist.
"The company we have used assured us these fireworks are the quietest on the market.
"Although there is no such thing as completely silent fireworks because fireworks require a launch charge, our fireworks are approximately 25 per cent quieter than traditional display fireworks.
"We are looking into the possibility of moving the fireworks further away from where the public stand to view the display."
The statement also said staff took the welfare of animals very seriously and took steps to make sure they were safe and comfortable during the firework display.
These steps included moving as many indoors as possible and having trained livestock staff that the animals are used to with them when the fireworks were going off.
It added: "Once again we are truly sorry if the fireworks were too loud for some of you."
