Her mother, Doris, is an actress and telephone operator while her stepfather, Sterling Bowman, is from Arkansas and moved to California to work in the steel industry. However, her stepfather later managed to open a chain of clothing stores. Anthony also has a half-brother – Derrick Bowman.
Anthony got his start in the entertainment industry through stand-up comedy. However, he mentioned that his first attempt was a disaster. Even though he didn’t do so well his first time on stage, he persevered and was encouraged by Guy Torry (another actor and comedian) to keep trying to stand up and work on his performance. Anthony would later star with Guy Torry in the movie Life.
